Melina – Gmelina arborea

Description

It is a fast growing tree that reaches 30 m in height, 50-80 cm in diameter and a circumference of tree branches with diameter of 1.2 to 4 m. The wood under the bark is pale cream or beige to yellow when fresh, changing to yellowish brown when exposed and is soft to moderately hard, light to moderately heavy, glossy when fresh. The fruit is up to 2.5 cm long, green, light and dark, turns yellow when ripe and has a fruity aroma.
